Reflection Task 3

I nominate Ms Bahriye Kamalı for the person of the year. She was born and grew up in Kars. She was admitted to Middle East Technical University Foreign Language Department, from where she graduated with a 4,00 GPA. She studied hard and improved herself in the field of education thoroughly; besides, she advanced in two second languages as well: Russian and Italian. Throughout her life, wherever she studied, she’s stood out both in respect of her colleagues and academic environment including her teachers and classmates. Why I’m nominating her to be the person of the year is not limited to her success but her humbleness; I mean, although she graduated with a 4,00 GPA and she could’ve chosen to do Master’s Degree even in the most prestigious universities of both Turkey and abroad, she preferred to serve community in the most underprivileged parts and places of her country. She has been working for many public schools in the east of Turkey for long. She is appreciated not only by her beloved and wee students but also school administrations and the public. She received order medals from the current president of Republic of Turkey twice.  When she’s asked why she’s been working for the poor and underprivileged but not for the most prestigious colleges, she answers teaching has nothing to do with more money and it is more than a job for her, being an aim of life. She says she is doing education rather than teaching, qualifying her students for them to be decent citizens. This is why I’m nominating her.
